His research and teaching interest is China Study, macro-economics, economic and social development strategy, theory and practice of Chinese Development. He has published widely in these areas. With his achievements in his research work, he was awarded the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Awards of the China Academy of Science(twice), Sun Yefang Economic Papers Prize (2000) and Fudan Premium Fund of Management (2008). He is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Twelfth and Thirteenth Five-Year Plans under NDRC, an Advisory member of the National Disaster Mitigation Committee and a member of the Advisory Committee under Ministry of Agriculture. He was elected as the representative of the 18th CCP National Congress in 2012.
