This week I spoke with Garland Nixon about the upcoming launch of a new antiwar organisation in Britain, one that has genuinely anti-imperialist politics at its core.

The British Chapter of the Anti-Fascist International will be launching in Bolivar Hall, central London on Saturday 5 September at 1.00pm. Speakers at the event include me, Craig Murray, Chris Williamson, David Miller, Dr Ranjeet Brar and more.

In my discussion with Garland we looked at the obscenity of allowing the party that runs the wars on behalf of British imperialism to also control and direct the ‘antiwar’ movement. This is at the heart of the abject and repeated failure of Stop the War in Britain and similar ‘official’ antiwar organisations in other imperialist countries to do anything to meaningfully impede the war machine, never mind to actually stop a single war.

Indeed, our ‘antiwar’ luminaries regularly and repeatedly stoke warmongering propaganda narratives against Russia, China, Iran and the DPRK, the cornerstones of world anti-imperialist resistance and the primary targets in the sights of the US/British/Nato war machine.

No wonder Iranian comrades in Britain have concluded that “There is no antiwar movement in this country.”
