Dinner with Pinochet (documentary 2010)
Quelle: grapefruit
'Dinner with Pinochet' is a documentary about a Chilean family who are living in Coventry and London, but came to the UK as political refugees 30 years ago in order to escape the Pinochet dictatorship.
It is a very emotional piece, which reveals how historical events still have a significant impact on future generations. Jorge Barros Snr. developed schizophrenia after he was tortured during the dictatorship. His condition affects his relationship with his younger daughter, and in the film she remembers the difficult moments in her childhood which can't be forgotten. This is only one of the stories presented by the documentary.
'Dinner with Pinochet' talks from the heart to the hearts of the Chileans and other political refugees. The stories bring the audience to the core of human feelings. It is the history of a family, whose lives have been irrevocably damaged by the atrocities of the past.
